Every year, one t6he most coveted major league baseball awards goes to the pitcher in each league who has proven himself head and shoulders above the rest.
Starting pitchers generally have two annual goals: win 20 games, and win a Cy Young award.
Just who was this Cy Young, anyway?
That question was on my mind when I found today’s FamilyFirst pick: Wikipedia: Cy Young.
Young set some records that, in the light of how the game is played today, will never be broken.

For instance, 815 starts.
7,354 2/3 innings pitched.
749 career complete games
And, of course, 511 career wins.
Young once pitched (and won) TWO games of a double-header!
What was the career ERA of the man who threw pitched that totally insane number of games? A very enviable 2.63.
Read the fascinating account of the man the award is named after at today’s FamilyFirst pick.
